You get what you put in. Active participation in the program will reward delegates with a fuller understanding of what it means to be a US citizen. This entails:
Comprehensive breakdown of the two party system and how to operate within it
How to build coalitions & communities around ideas and visions

Outside-the-box learning methods that fully immerse intellectual curiosities

When does THBS occur?
The 85th Session of Tar Heel Boys State will be held June 15-21, 2025 on the campus of Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Where is the program located?
Tar Heel Boys State occurs at an accredited college/university in North Carolina. Catawba College has hosted THBS since 2003.

How much does it cost?
Currently, the program is $500 per delegate. This includes lodging, meals throughout the week, two shirts (for uniform), and the incredible experience. Oftentimes, a delegate’s local Legion post may cover the costs associated with attendance. To learn more, contact your local post here. Will this experience benefit applications to colleges and military academies?
100%. Most definitely. Our alumni network grows stronger every year and our past graduates continue to amaze us with their accomplishments at all levels in the public and private sectors.

Does a delegate have to attend the full week?
Yes. Due to the program’s level of intensity and curriculum immersion, we do not allow partial attendance (except in extreme circumstances).
